The Crystal Red Shrimp (CRS) is the crown jewel of the freshwater shrimp hobby. Known for their striking, opaque candy-cane stripes of brilliant red and pure white, they are a breathtaking addition to any specialized setup. Unlike Neocaridina, these are Caridina shrimp, which means they require strict water parameters to survive and breed. You MUST use RO (Reverse Osmosis) water remineralized with specialized GH+ salts, and an active buffering substrate (like ADA Amazonia) to keep the pH acidic (around 6.0-6.5). While they are demanding, successfully keeping and breeding CRS is a highly rewarding badge of honor for any aquarist. Our stock is home-bred, ensuring they are much hardier than imported specimens.

💡 Interesting Facts
- • The CRS mutation was first discovered in 1996 by Hisayasu Suzuki in Japan from a colony of standard black Bee Shrimp.
- • They are graded based on the ratio and opacity of white to red. Higher grades have more solid white coverage (e.g., SSS, SS, S, A grades).
- • They are highly sensitive to nitrogenous waste; 0 Ammonia, 0 Nitrite, and very low Nitrate (<10ppm) are mandatory.
